The Act of Loving

According to Sophocles love is one word that frees us from all the weight and pain in life.  If I will ask you to define love, what love means for you? I guess we do have different definition about it but it has one purpose and meaning. Love gives strength for fear, it cast away anxiety and all the negative emotions, it is pure and bold. It is consist of a wonderful feelings but we should never forget that it is also composed of adjustment, relating and sometimes misunderstanding.

Why is it that there’s a need for us to love and to be loved?

We human beings are not just made of flesh but of spirit as well. We seek love in any form that could fill the emptiness inside us.  It may be in the form of love towards opposite sex, love of parents and family, and love of friends. The act of loving is the act of giving and receiving. It is a relationship where two or more person would show the act of kindness and generosity, you couldn’t create a perfect relationship if you’re just the only one who’s giving, who’s relating and adjusting and it is no longer healthy.

I totally disagree to some tips on magazines published on how to find the right person. Well finding the right one is not just through physical attraction though I would admit that it will start from there.  But you need to know each other when you want to find real love. You need enough time and you don’t have to believe of what you hear from that person’s mouth but from what he or she acts. Cultivating relationship is not a playground where you are looking for opportunities for your own interest, it involves emotions. Love is all about relating.

“Love works in miracles every day: such as weakening the strong, and stretching the weak; making fools of the wise, and wise men of fools; favoring the passions, destroying reason, and in a word, turning everything topsy-turvy.”       – Marguerite De Valois

How to Cultivate a Lasting Relationship?

  • Communicate with your love ones.
  • Let them know that you love them, not just by acts but by words as well. Say”I love you”, sometimes we find it too hard or too difficult for us to say those words, but it’s worth it. It produce a wonderful feelings not just on you but to that someone whom you have express your love. Practice until you make it a habit.
  • Listen carefully on their stories before you react.
  • Hold hands with someone you love.
  • Give more hugs.
  • Laugh as much as possible with them.
